🕵️‍♂️💸✝️ Church, Crypto and Hybrid War: How Konstantin Malofeev Built a Financial Empire for Russia’s Shadow Operations

10 April, 18:51
While EU and US sanctions have officially cut off Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeev from international banking, he has quietly constructed a parallel financial empire.

This network of crypto wallets, religious foundations, offshore structures, and intelligence proxies serves not only to finance pro-Kremlin propaganda but also to:

  • fund far-right political parties across Europe;

  • launder cash via Orthodox "missions";

  • support the deportation and illegal adoption of Ukrainian children.

📉 Tsargrad's losses are no obstacle

In 2024, Malofeev’s flagship media holding Tsargrad declared over 600 million rubles in losses. Instead of downsizing, his media entities received state-sponsored loans, including funding from the Institute for Internet Development, a Kremlin-linked propaganda agency.

🪙 RMC tokens and FSB crypto wallets

Since 2018, Malofeev has invested in crypto infrastructure, including the development of Russian Mir Coin (RMC) — a pseudo-ideological token for “traditional value transfers.”

Through wallets like RMC_FaithTrust1, OrthodoxFund_Balkan, and Orthodox Brotherhood Ltd, funds were channeled to:

  • launder dark web crypto;

  • support far-right parties and “patriotic” NGOs in the EU;

  • finance Orthodox cover operations.

🛐 Crypto through Bulgaria, Serbia and Austria

Malofeev’s infrastructure involves:

  • Orthodox Brotherhood Ltd (Bulgaria) — laundering and crypto-to-cash operations;

  • Georgsverein (Austria) — funding cultural events tied to the FPÖ;

  • Fratellanza Ortodossa Italiana — organizing “pilgrimages” and Lega-aligned forums.

Audit trails confirm crypto transfers exceeding $300,000 USDT across 2023–2024 via these “charitable” structures.

🇩🇪🇦🇹🇮🇹 Kremlin crypto for Europe's far right

Malofeev-linked wallets and proxies directly support:

  • AfD (Germany) — via the FriedensEuropa Foundation;

  • FPÖ (Austria) — through Georgsverein's Vienna operations;

  • Lega (Italy) — via Orthodox missions in Padua and Tuscany.

These groups receive crypto-based support masked as religious or traditionalist activism.

🧒🏻 Vatican and child abduction financing

Starting in 2023, Malofeev and Maria Lvova-Belova — Putin’s children’s ombudsman and Malofeev’s wife since 2024 — launched a network to financially support the forced deportation and ideological "adoption" of Ukrainian children.

The mechanism includes:

  • donations through the Santa Maria Dei Bambini fund in Rome;

  • placement of children in Orthodox institutions under “spiritual guardianship”;

  • financial flows through Brazil, Argentina, and Latin American religious missions.

These programs operate under humanitarian pretexts, shielding them from EU scrutiny.

💀 The new architecture of hybrid warfare

Malofeev’s empire isn’t about broadcasting or lobbying anymore. It’s about building a crypto-religious financial system capable of:

  • bypassing sanctions,

  • laundering millions,

  • and supporting Kremlin-aligned movements and operations across the globe.
